Cyber Hygiene

The Internet is a wonderful thing, but it can also be extremely dangerous. This you know.

But do you know how safe and secure you really are?

When you are using the Internet, or even on the computer, make sure that you are being safe...

It’s one of the most basic things you do when you create a new account, be it for a game, your email or your bank - and yet, it is also one of the most vital things you do on the Internet to secure your data, keep your personal privacy and ensure that you are safe online.

Therefore, you should make sure that your password is strong, as it is your first line of defence against those on the Internet with malicious intentions, by following a simple set of instructions:

  1. Keep your password complex - mix up the characters, don’t stick to words you can find in the dictionary! Put some wildcards in there (“£$%^&*<>?@~)
  2. Keep it memorable and unique - having the same password for every site is asking for trouble, and as for having it on a Post-it by your computer…
  3. If you think it is unsafe, change it!
  4. NEVER give it out

Are you secure?

How safe are you really?

Ok, so I have no idea what a surfer is, and have not even seen one in the wild. But what I do know is that this particular kind of surfer is not your friend.

Shoulder surfers are the people that stand behind your shoulder, watching you surf the web. They may be you friends, they may be random strangers, but they are definitely two things:

  1. Creepy
  2. Not safe dude!

Having someone stood behind you while you enter passwords, emails and other information into a computer is a big no-no! Shoo them off, and surf safely!

Its totally not cool, dude

Beware of the shoulder surfer
